Coaniquem Village

Instead of a rigid division, we imagine a new Coaniquem campus serving as a village.

Our regular villagers include seniors living in senior center; burnt children and their parents; and staffs from Coaniquem.

Local comminities and childrens of seniors could come in for the church and restaurant during weekends.

Master Planning of the campus

Graphic designer Veilinda and I are in charge of master planning for the campus. Currently the whole campus is filled with sand, only the main clinic building and the gas station on the left side are existed.

Outdoor Healing Garden to connect generations

Standing with our core value - Playful, Sustainable, Inclusive, Interactive, we aim to create a healing green space for multiple generations regardless of their ages, physical conditions or where they are from.

Juice Bar

A juice bar is connecting the Coaniquem Campus and the whole village. Coming out from the campus, young patients and parents could enjoy a juice with peacock seating.

Pathway shading

Using local crafts as our inspiration, we’ve created the woven shading structure with fabric weaving and solar panels on top.

Green Tunnel

Empower kids with kids’ level green tunnel, non directive play and optical illusion. Using drought torlerant plants and fountain grass to create the green zone.

Accessible Community Garden

Teaching the kids about sustainable practices. A garden for seniors to tend, walk, paint, etc. A place for everyone.

Restaurant with weaving shade

Serving tasty local dishes for the Coaniquem campus, families of the senior center and local communities

Atacama desert is the driest land on earth and highly exposed to the sun. Technology advancement has enabled us to use the biggest resource in Antofagasta to provide energy for outdoor lighting during night time.

The Nest

The nest is a c entral pavilion gathering multiple generations and connecting church, school, senior center and restaurant. With double layered fabric shading, burned children no need to worried about the sunlight and have a labyrinth to play and dance.

The Nest: Night Scene

“When you have grown to become strong enough like a tree, you now could let the birds come and build their nests.” — Maria Bori, Coaniquem Casabierta

Creating a sustainable and loving future

Building a healing and playful green space to connect multiple generations regardless of their ages, physical conditions or where they are from.
